Well, what a year 2014 turned out to be, we have been very busy but have enjoyed every moment of it! From the wonderful artist exhibitions that we have held, through to connecting with so many of you via Twitter and Facebook; not forgetting our late night opening for this years Chudleigh Christmas Fayre!

We have had the pleasure of framing many different precious works of art and we have met so many lovely artists, thanks very much to all of our customers for your support.

With only three days until the big day we thought we would take this opportunity to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

We look forward to seeing what 2015 brings, hope to see you there too, we are open again normal hours from Monday 5th January 2015 as we are having a little break for Christmas.

Richard Thorn is a Torquay born artist who’s works include some stunning seascapes, landscapes and beach scenes. Richard’s work is well known amongst some of the most prestigious galleries in England and we are delighted to announce that we are now displaying and selling some of his work here in The Bracken Gallery.

Richard Thorn began his career using watercolour as his preferred medium, he would love to paint seascapes, so much of his work is informed and influenced by the sea. Further down the line he began to bring in other mediums including acrylic and inks, this bought more texture and depth to his pieces.

In 2012 Richard was a finalist for Best Selling Artist of the Year and he has exhibited his work in many venues including being invited to take some works that he created in Portugal to stage an exhibition by the Portuguese embassy in London.

We are currently displaying some of Richards originals and prints; we are very much looking forward to seeing the reactions to these wonderful pieces. For more information about Richard and his works please visit his website, if you would like to come and peruse his work for yourself please feel free to call in and take a look.

Tony Homer Works At The Gallery.

We are delighted to be displaying some works of art from Teignmouth based artist; Tony Homer. Tony moved to Teignmouth 27 years ago, he says that he has been looking at the unique visual qualities of the river Teign moving down towards the sea. This gives him a combination of landscape, water, boats and buildings that change with season, light and weather.

Tony told us “I keep going back to places until I have enough information to do work in the studio. Landscapes, seascapes, and architecture form the main focus of my work although more recent works have included the human form.” He went on to say “I like overlaying marks and working in texture and pattern on the surface of the painting often changing compositions or amending them to achieve the feel of a place or an idea.”

A lovely example of Tony's work.
